With Warren County on its east and Venango County to the south, Oil Creek Township is located in Eastern Crawford County and is the township that surrounds the City of Titusville.
Oil Creek Township is a Second Class Township and was established on October 8, 1800. It covers an area of 30.062 square miles, has 45.38 miles of township roads, ten township-owned bridges, one mile of township-owned sewer system, and a population of 1,702 as of the 2020 census.

The East Branch Trail runs through a portion of the Township owned by Clear Lake Authority and Crawford County. Recreationists can park in the parking lot adjacent to the George M. County Forest. Directional signs can be found along Kinsack and Greytown Roads.
The Township is governed by a board of three Supervisors. They serve overlapping six-year terms and are elected by the resident voters in odd-numbered years. All potential Supervisors must have resided in the Township for at least one year prior to their election.
